The IRS announced the 2022 tax filing season commences on Monday, January 24, 2022 when the agency begins to accept and process 2021 tax year returns.
The IRS previously announced the beginning of the 2022 filing season for modernized e-file business returns which officially opened January 7, 2022 at 9:00am. The IRS also began accepting e-filed Affordable Care Act returns on Friday, January 14, 2022. These are information returns (Forms 1094 and 1095) that report information about health coverage for employees.
